Great minds think alike! I did a post somewhat similar to this on my old blog--among the words I included were misprision with a link to Rep. McDermott, and asinine (Noam Chomsky).
I say good for nothing and asinine a lot. I actually make a special effort to bring things back into my vocabulary, usually choosing a word or phrase to champion for a few months.
Recent words/phrases I've started using again this year: rad, carpetbagger, in like flynn, bright eyed and bushy tailed.
I also recently began using "poop" instead of any of the alternative words.

Your choices are right on.

And sadly, one of the best words for dealing with those (named or not), Aplomb.
Byrd repudiated the Klan. Can you name any Republicans who have done the same? Not Trent Lott, not Jesse Helms, . . . surely you can name one!
